We loved having Miss Olivia, Amelia's cousin who is home on spring break from college as our mystery reader today. Not only did we love the book she shared but we also enjoyed hearing all about the job she hopes to get out of college. She wants to be a K-9 police office once she gets her masters degree in college. Super cool!
We loved having Pat Moon, former Iditarod musher to Westgate today with his dog, D.O.G.. D.O.G. is his three legged service dog who is amazing and has overcome many obstacles and remains amazing! Pat shared all about being a musher and the challenges they must face on the race trail. We are looking forward to tracking our mushers beginning next weekend as the formal race begins!
Thank you to our Rolling Meadows High School readers, Max and Orlando for sharing a fun story with us today. We wish them luck tonight in their game against the Maine East Varsity basketball team tonight. The boys shared with us the importance of balancing school work with sports in order to do their best every day.
First graders loved their time with our Junior Achievement volunteers from Allstate Insurance. We learned all about the difference between wants and needs and goods and services. It was a great morning filled with fun activities from Junior Achievement. We later wrote them thank you cards for teaching us this morning.
A big thank you to Rylan's grandpa for being our mystery reader today! He shared a wonderful book about the importance of laughter and how we are in charge of ourselves and can "choose our own weather". The book was called "The Jester Has Lost His Jingle" and it is connected to a wonderful foundation that we encourage you to check out. More info can be found on this website:
